Amazing early Navy flyers grouping

Found this at a local estate auction. This great grouping came out of a chest after being packed away for 80+ years.

Included in the collection were his USN Flyers Helmet a Spalding model 6 in outstanding condition with all the factory stampings deep and readable, His facemask in as close to near mint as can be found, his commission as a Naval Reserve pilot signed by Theordore Roosevelt Jr, his honorable discharge certificate and a photo of him in front of his plane holding the Spalding helmet.

Wow, it is in top notch condition and you can see it was carefully stored the past 80 years! Very nice pick-up, congratulations!

Nice Britches! What kind of plane did he fly? I assume it's the one behind him.

 

Everything I saw, sadly there were more photos I missed out on with great shots of planes looked like he flew a Curtiss H-17

That is a real treasure if you're an early aviation nut and history buff like me. Congratulations. I am sure you know about Teddy's son. The connection adds some real emotion to that grouping. Once again, congrats.
