federicovitiello Posted May 31, 2015 #1 Posted May 31, 2015 Hi Guys, I found this emergency surgical instrument kit for minor surgery. It's marked: "Yale Belt Corp". I have a doubt: It could be a ww2 surgery kit? I saw few like this that people say are from WWII, but i would like be sure. During the years they didn't change a lot I thought... Online, I found this site about medic equpiment during the war: http://www.mtaofnj.org/content/WWII%20Combat%20Medic%20-%20Dave%20Steinert/EquipmentOfWWIICombatMedic.htm And there also is a kit like mine. We found this kit in Italy, near Gotic Line. What do you think guys? Thank you! Federico
MattD Posted May 31, 2015 #2 Posted May 31, 2015 It doesn't look like the WW2 type to me. That resembles the post war item. Some of the tools/ instruments are incorrect too
carrabassett Posted May 31, 2015 #3 Posted May 31, 2015 Post-war for sure. The instruments are definitely post-war and the case does not look WW2 vintage with the markings. Hope this helps, sorry to disappoint.
federicovitiello Posted May 31, 2015 Author #4 Posted May 31, 2015 Thank for your reply guys. I thought it was WWII because few people told me and also because I saw that web site. In that site I saw this kit. Maybe is wrong? Just for asking. Thank you so much
MattD Posted May 31, 2015 #5 Posted May 31, 2015 The kit is different on website The kit you have is Vietnam era-there is a demand for that stuff !!
DocCollector1441 Posted June 1, 2015 #6 Posted June 1, 2015 Those kits are pretty difficult to find with the full contents and in decent shape regardless of the era. The WWII era cases tend to be more of a brownish khaki or a lighter shade of OD green. The contents themselves have only ever changed slightly.
RichiesRelics Posted June 1, 2015 #7 Posted June 1, 2015 I have one almost identical to the one shown, and mine is Vietnam era based on the dates of the contents inside. Very nice kit! Richie
Sgt. Swigart Posted June 1, 2015 #8 Posted June 1, 2015 I just sold one of these that was navy marked circa 1960's. I think this one is same era.
