Alex Boban Posted May 30, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2015 Good afternoon fellow forumers, I came across a pair of US Army Air Forces type A-16 flight boots as pictured below and I can't find any info on these on the web or in my reference books. They appear to be legit WWII-era flight boots made by Converse with a 1945 AAF contract. They do have an actual size (Size 6), instead of the usual Small - Medium - Large sizing system as seen on WWII A6s and post-WWII A1s. They also seem to have a shorter shaft than the A6s/A1s. Pictures: Thanks for your inputs! Alex
Navybean Posted May 31, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 31, 2015 Are they flight nurses boots?
pararaftanr2 Posted May 31, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 31, 2015 Per the U.S.A.A.F. type designation sheets, the A-16 Shoes, Flying, are "For women pilots and nurses; to be worn over regular shoes". They were standardized May 2,1944.
