CDTMiller Posted May 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 21, 2015 Almost all ALICE buttpacks and rucks lose their rubberized linings with time - they flake off and become ineffective at keeping water and moisture out of the pack. Has anyone ever tried to restore this rubberized lining? I just bought some Flexseal (the stuff advertised on TV) and am currently spraying the worn-out lining of an old buttpack. I'll let you all know how it goes.
268th C.A. Posted May 21, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 21, 2015 Hi Tom Swift here, if it will seal this row boat screen door, it will seal an Alice Pack! (sorry I couldn't resist)
CDTMiller Posted May 21, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted May 21, 2015 I've gotta say, it is exceeding my expectations. I've only put on about 2 light coats so far, but already it is evident that I'm getting that nice, flexible rubberized coating that I was going for. Fortunately, it does not dry rigid. We'll see how it holds up after about another two coats to get it totally water-proofed. I'm thinking about using this stuff on an old GI issue waterproof bag/pack liner - those things are notorious for having holes.
