corsair Posted May 20, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2015 Recent garage sale find of a medical kit from an army medic that was in the 82nd airborne division, medical company, stationed at Ft Bragg 1953-54. He related that he had jumped with this kit and that other similar kits with different medical contents were carried by other troopers as well as the Doctors. I’ve never seen a kit like this and have been unable to identify it in any books. Kit contains numerous 1952-53 dated medical supplies, dressings, cotton padded tin splits, glass syringes, needles, silk sutures, and even a full glass IV bottle with rubber tubing, and more. Double zippered and inside padded od canvas case is 6X16X16. Only markings I can see are NO HANDLE on the front and one side has CONT.AFO4 (606)-2203. Anyone got an ID on this or ever seen one of these?
dustin Posted May 20, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 20, 2015 The bag is for a C-2A one man life raft of the late 40's to the early 50's. It appears to have been slightly modified for airborne use as a padded medic jump bag, nice piece.
