skypilot6670 Posted May 18, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 18, 2015 Purchased this Vulcan 1968 11th Armored Cav. End of Tour lighter this weekend. Whoever had this lighter made also had a sense of humor, as Col. Armor is inscribed on the back. No Col. Armor ever commanded the 11th Armored Cav., but if you were under fire, the armored personnel carrier or tank would certainly be the commander. P.S. One of their Commanders during 1968 was Colonel George Patton, General George Patton's som.
bellasilva Posted May 18, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 18, 2015 Maybe the inscription refers to a Colonel who commanded a unit within the 11th Armored Cavalry. Awesome piece

skypilot6670 Posted May 19, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted May 19, 2015 Thanks Bellishiva and Firefighter.Got it at a local Flea Market.I was very happy to get it ,real Nam lighters are very scarce especially 68 dated black horse.Thought it may be a squadrion or troop commander but Iam guessing that would not be a field grade officer. Then realized that it may be a joke.I hope someone with more knowledge may be able to shed some light on it. Mike
