12thengr Posted May 10, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2015 Whilst in Maui last week,( I know, lucky me. I spotted cases of this stuff at the local Long Drugs. Except for the coding stripes and stat info, they look pretty good. They even have the key.
12thengr Posted May 10, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted May 10, 2015 Locals there have a particular fondness for canned meat. Spam is quite popular. They also have a version of hardtack. I forget the brand name but it looks the part and tastes bland, always good.
12thengr Posted May 10, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted May 10, 2015 If this is available on the mainland, it will make some WWI nerds day. Bon' appetite
willysmb44 Posted June 5, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 5, 2015 I reminded of that scene in "ANZACs" where Paul Hogan captures some starving Germans:German: "Do you have bully beef?" Hogan: "Crikey, you must be starving. Yeah, tons of the stuff!"
RustyCanteen Posted June 5, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 5, 2015 Interesting 'find'; I used to see smaller cans of it at local stores.
mpguy80/08 Posted July 10, 2015 Share #6 Posted July 10, 2015 Kroger Groceries and even Dollar General can be a good place to locate the corned beef cans that still sport the twist key. You can print off your own labels and glue them on for events... I use Fray Bentos "Prepared Beef" labels.
