RustyCanteen Posted May 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2015 Mitch, Not seeing anything which says 'military issue' in my eyes. Not saying it couldn't have found some use, but it seems like it may be a commercial kit that was US Coast Guard approved; like for civilian recreational yachting/boating use. It does appear to be 1940s from the look. RC
Survival Posted May 5, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 5, 2015 That is not a military issue kit. That is a WW2 merchant marine lifeboat first aid kit. The USCG nomenclature is just to indicate its an approved kit as far as contents and construction. Some of the contents are not original to the kit. It appears to be missing some items probably the meds unless they are hidden under some of the components lying flat.
