History Man Posted May 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2015 I picked this up a few weeks back from a scrapper I know who deals in estates. It is a really neat submarine badge which appears to be foreign-made, metal is light but detailed and there is a pin on the back which extends almost the entire length of the badge. The badge is also hollow. Philip
1SG_1st_Cav Posted May 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2015 Obviously for a diesel boat. Nice find.
Josh B. Posted May 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2015 Definitely foreign made, and the profile of the submarine is also foreign to my eye. Pin/ hinge is suggestive of Australia to the CBI. Almost looks like a British S class.
BROBS Posted May 5, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 5, 2015 looks like a Japanese sub and a Japanese pin IMO. http://www.combatreform.org/B1japsubmarinewithradialengineplanecutaway.jpg
tidballman Posted May 26, 2015 Share #5 Posted May 26, 2015 This an old Chilean Submarine badge- early based on the pin style. See “Submarine Insignia & Submarine Services of the World” by W.M.Thornton M.B.E., pub. Leo Cooper, 1997. hope this helps
