Redding CA picks - patches and medals

Recommended Posts

Went to the annual Redding CA Civic Center yard sale/swap meet today. Here's the picks I got without dropping a lot of cash.

After a quick recon, I settled into go mode. The American Defense medal was in the Asian Pacific Theater medal box. I got it, as it has a foreign service bar. The Air Medal with 4 oak leaves was from the same dealer. The MAG and Cobra 500 patches look to be Philippine made. They came from the same person who had the SSN 667 day of launch letters. I'm in Nor Cal so it's interesting to see stuff from Mare Island (SF Bay area) which is no longer a US Navy base. One envelope still has the little coin celebrating the launch. I am a patch guy and a former scout, so I have an affection for old BSA council patches. The Berlin Brigade and Coasty patches were in with a bag of scout patches. The scout patches aren't shown. A follow up message will be reference an inert grenade I passed up.
