268th C.A. Posted August 15, 2023 #78 Posted August 15, 2023 High School...Oh yeah, I remember it well. Glad I missed it. Born deaf in one ear. I guess a blessing that I didn't think was. saw many of the older neighbours. returning. Guys were giving me stuff they didn't want the bad memories. They just wanted to forget it. that was one war that I saw no need to fight. Politicians would let it end. Seems like the ones that followed were just as bad. Welcome Home Veterans !
Thor996 Posted August 15, 2023 #79 Posted August 15, 2023 Just a kid in grade school who watched on the evening news.

P-59A Posted December 27, 2023 #82 Posted December 27, 2023 I was 13 years old. My dad watched the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite every evening. My dad never said a word. He got out of the AirForce in 62 and had friends that stayed in. Many years later we went to visit the traveling wall. He pointed out their names to me.

MinutemanEMTer Posted December 28, 2023 #84 Posted December 28, 2023 I was also 13. But very informed from my SMsgt. Air Force father. I was one of the very few in my class that knew what was happening over there and here. Probably more than my teacher.

rtd_sf_eng Posted May 18, 2024 #86 Posted May 18, 2024 Fort Bragg, 5th SFGA. Knew it would happen, not just when.
BryanJ Posted May 24, 2024 #87 Posted May 24, 2024 Jr. in High School, four years before Army ROTC and Airborne School in the summer of 1979. I’m sure my feelings then were about the same as now, how could we have lost tens of thousand of service members in a campaign that went so wrong, and what did we learn to make sure it never happens again?
Warren Posted September 16, 2025 #88 Posted September 16, 2025 A junior in college, saw it on the news that evening.
