byf early mauser 1943. I thought it was kind of funny that it was listed as a 38 as well, some how a P39 turned it to a .38 sure wish it were true. :huh:

The 38 cal typo is very common. I would think that there was not much weapon knowledge by the clerks typing these forms up for the GI's, and the first number they saw would be a suitable caliber. Most likely in a hurry as well as the only pictures I've seen of this practice all have long lines of GI's with war booty waiting on their turn. Very nice p38

I have my dad's HSc.

Used to have the papers, long gone.

The clerk typed the number on the mismatch mag insted of the actual SN.
