WASP Dorothy Avery group

A neat group of wartime & reunion material attributed to WASP pilot Dorothy Avery. I believe that only 1,074 women earned the WASP wing in the units short lifetime during WWII. I have read that 25,000 women applied and only 1,830 were accepted to the Women Airforce Service Pilot training program.
Dorothy Avery, B1917 – D1999. Miss Avery graduated with WASP class W7 at Avenger Field, Texas on November 13, 1943. She would have received the W7 graduation wing using a ‘Juarez’ base and class shield as did all 59 graduates. Avery served with the WASP’s until they were disbanded in 1944 and was stationed at Mather Army Air Base, Sacramento, CA and March Army Air Base, Riverside, CA. She later worked as an inspector for the Navy Lockhead Service Center.
Found in her group are some great wartime WASP photo’s, wartime paperwork file with some very interesting reading, ID card, a $2 ‘shortsnorter’ she and other’s signed, a ‘real’ WASP reunion wing, reunion badges, her Fifi pin, discharge button, and the USAAF Honorable Discharge she was finally granted in 1979 with accompanying paperwork.
A interesting and sometimes sad look at WWII American aviation.

Very nice and rare grouping. It's tough to find original WASP material, but finding original wartime WASP related paperwork is very tough. Thanks for giving us a look at it!

Looks like she flew the A-24, A-25, B-34, B-25, B-26 and P-64.
