sigsaye Posted April 22, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 22, 2015 Considering Grayback spent its last 12 years of its life in Adia, 8-10 of that in Subic, I'd be VERY surprised if you found one with the designation LPSS that WASNT Jspanese or Subic made. In 1980, I was on USS Henry B. Wilson, (DDG-7). We were deployed to WESTPAC and were in rough shape meterial wise. Grayback was about at the end of her life and it was decided we would "Escort" each other to Cebu Philipenes. Grayback was not certified to dive and we could barely steam. We joked that they sent us together in case one started to sink, the other could call for help?

Spike Posted April 22, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted April 22, 2015 The Grayback was used for a failed POW rescue mission off the coast of North Vietnam with SEALs and UDT's using SDV's in 1972.
