k bandow Posted April 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2015 I acquired this recently, thinking it had no identification. I thoroughly was looking through the jacket for any form of ID and my heart stopped when I saw the name in the sleeve, Lt. H.P. Bacot. I punched his name into google and almost immediately found him on find a grave. He died in the summer of 1941 when his Douglas A-20A crashed following an engine fire. Only one of the crew survived. I don't think it is all that common to find uniforms with the pinwheel on the sleeve, much less to a pre-war casualty. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=70657027

KurtA Posted April 19, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 19, 2015 Really like it. Everything about the uniform looks "right" and that Randolph Field tailor label just ties it all together. Excellent find.

AAF_Collection Posted April 21, 2015 Share #9 Posted April 21, 2015 Very nice coat indeed, and as you say original "Pinwheel" patched uniforms are not easy to find. Matt.

Justin B. Posted April 23, 2015 Share #12 Posted April 23, 2015 A 1941-model coat that sadly wasn't worn very long. I really like seeing stuff with the GHQAF patch, the core and foundation of the vast wartime AAF. It's great to see such a "stock" pre-war Air Corps uniform, thanks for posting. Justin B.
