Leatherneck72 Posted April 14, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2015 Any members know which unit this DI represents? It reads "ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL." The ashtray itself was made in Germany. It is marked: HANSEATEN HANDARBEIT.

hardheaded Posted April 15, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 15, 2015 That's a tough one. I checked my motto list and all I found was the 15TH CAVALRY REGIMENT (formerly 15th Armor)“TOUS POUR UN, UN POUR TOUS” (All For One, One For All). Doubt it's that but it may help out in some way. Wharfmaster Posted April 15, 2015 Share #8 Posted April 15, 2015 Considering the crossed carbine with hay hook, it's got to be the 494th Amphibious Engineer Hay Baling Regiment. W

Steve B. Posted April 16, 2015 Share #10 Posted April 16, 2015 My Mottoes guide shows the 487th Transportation Battalion having that motto. I couldn't find any insignia for the 487th after a quick Google search. I was wondering if this unit might have something to do with amphibious operations and cargo due to the seahorse emblem and the hook in the upper RH corner. I also found a 487th Port Battalion, but again, no insignia. I suspect this is a pot-war unauthorized DUI that may have started out as a port battalion and was later re-named as a transportation unit. I hope someone has some definitive information. Linedoggie Posted June 2, 2015 Share #11 Posted June 2, 2015 Here's the close up as requested Red Seahorse on white oval background is the SSI of the WW2 Engineer Special Brigades. Arrowhead likely is for the Assault landing device on campaign ribbons
