hbtcoveralls Posted April 13, 2015 Share #12 Posted April 13, 2015 First one is the US Army Armored force "helmet, combat, winter" Stock number 73-H-64425, A close fitting cotton windproof helmet lined with wool Kersey (later helmets unlined) and coming low on the back of the neck." This helmet is part of the 1941 style winter armored force combat uniform which included the tanker jacket and tanker bibs. This helmet was frequently worn under the tanker helmet and also was a favorite of Jeep drivers and Harley riders. Your example is missing the snap for the throat closure, as many of them are. The second is not military. Tom Bowers
AustinO Posted April 13, 2015 Share #13 Posted April 13, 2015 Tom is correct above, winter combat hat (though not exclusive to the armored forces). My guess on the second cap would be homefront or just post war children's toy (I'm assuming it is a smaller size).
AB12 Posted April 16, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted April 16, 2015 Thanks for all the info. I would size it as an adult small.
