I bought this shell from a forum member, and when I got it in hand I could not tell if it was Schlueter or a McCord. It falls right in the middle of bail-roundness (early McCords and Schlueters looked more similar), the spot welding is too shallow to see, and there are no stamps at all. Anyone know for sure?

Sorry Mike, I think it could be a rare "Parish McSchlueter"

That's actually a very hard one. The paint texture looks to be Schlueter, however, the bales don't seem to have that significant rounded shape to them. TheY kinda look like the early McCord loops IMO.

I agree with others Mcschlueter seems to be the right answer haha

I'm kind of surprised that this helmet is giving some members trouble. In my opinion everything about this helmet (especially the loops) screams "Schlueter". I have attached 3 images. The first image shows the side profile of a known McCord, Schlueter, and the OP's helmet all next to one another. Note the brim. McCord has a definite 'dip' upward near the front of the helmet. Schlueter's stay pretty constant throughout. The next image shows the OP's loop right next to a known Schlueter. And the third image is of the previous two photos overlayed on top of each other. A perfect match. This helmet is without a doubt in my mind a Schlueter.

I have always had trouble with this GrantG.

So are you saying that McCords have that definate dip in the front where the Schlueter is more subtle and rounded in the front?

I drew in red to show how I think the McCord would dip in the front along side the Schlueter photo..

yes, I believe that is what he's saying.

also the loop weld/smush is the same as a Schlueter.. sort of "ball like" at the ends.
