This one is set up with brown side out, seen often by Marines, I added the inner tube band but I am debating if I want to display it with or without it though this set up was used by Marines. The cover was put on way off center. The shell is a McCord front seam with OD#7 straps and newer style hardware, basic early style liner. (As all these helmets have)

Here's another one. I really like this one. The helmet is as clean as they come. Korean War shell with OD #7 painted T1 straps and beautiful Korean War liner with OD #7 HBT webbing sweatband and nape. The cover is a first production:

Marine Veteran Bring Back helmet from Vietnam. I have also his dog tag and some other small items.

Ther cover is a Marine one from 1959 and is already a part of the shell.

The helmet is a bring back from Vietnam and was never taken apart. Sadly the vet passed away.

It belonged to SGT Thomas who was assigned to HHC 3rd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade. He joined the 503rd at Ft Bragg in June of 1967. He deployed to Vietnam with the battalion in SEP 1967 and served as both an Infantryman (11B) and Light Vehicle Driver (64A). He was hospitalized on 26 December 1967 and stayed at the 91st EVAC Hospital for 15 days. He returned to HHC 3-503rd on 10 January 1968. He was then hospitalized again on 26 March 1968 where he stayed until June 1968 when he was sent back to Ft Bragg. He then became a Drill Instructor and got out of the Army in 1973.

rubber band leaves no mark on cover but I peeled up cover enough to see that it leaves discoloration on shell?

Not shown but the entire inside of the cover is ripped but sown together with green thread.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here's my Vietnam era helmet. The markings were identified to the New Equipment Training Team for the AH-1 Cobra. They are ink stamped, but there is really no way to tell whether they were done during Vietnam. The liner headband has a name written on it as well as a SSN (not pictured). I believe it was sold to me by a forum member, so there may be photos of it elsewhere on the forum.

Thanks!
