bayonetman Posted April 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2015 I have very little information on these, and a search has not turned up anything useful (quite possibly because I am not describing it well enough since it lacks a motto). Would appreciate knowing what unit this DUI is for. It came in a box of odds and ends so cannot even determine if it is US although I think it is. The back is screwpost and unmarked. Thanks for your help!

Boy Howdy Posted October 11, 2020 Share #6 Posted October 11, 2020 OLD thread but worth a shot. I have 3 pin back crest and 1 screw back crest that are similar but different. Are they also 1st Eng. Bn. also? No makers marks on any of them. And they are concave. Thank you in advance to all.

This one is for the 7th Engineer Regiment/Battalion. The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 7th Engineer Regiment on 27 August 1926. It was redesignated for the 7th Engineer Battalion on 7 March 1940. It was redesignated for the 7th Engineer Combat Battalion on 13 May 1940. The insignia was redesignated for the 7th Engineer Battalion on 6 July 1954. I has the same symbolizes with Oars and Moons etc cause it was formed from the 1st Engineer Battalion before WWI. Expanded 14 March-7 June 1901 to form the 1st and 2d Battalions of Engineers (2d Battalion of Engineers—hereafter separate lineage) 1st Battalion of Engineers expanded, reorganized, and redesignated 1 July 1916 as the 1st Regiment of Engineers 1st Regiment of Engineers expanded 15 May 1917 to form the 1st, 6th, and 7th Regiments of Engineers (1st and 6th Regiments of Engineers—hereafter separate lineages) 7th Regiment of Engineers redesignated 29 August 1917 as the 7th Engineers Assigned 17 November 1917 to the 5th Division
