davekj Posted March 29, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2015 Hi All , I picked this up at an antique shop yesterday and would like to know a little more about it . It is made of a velvet type material with the black being embroidered . It is full size also . I believe it to be Vietnam era , but am not sure . I looked around on the web and found nothing like it . I have started becoming interested in Vietnam made patches . and would like your opinion on this one . Thank You for your help and opinions !! 36-tex Posted March 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2015 There were a whole series of these "velveteen" patches. Pretty sure there was an article about these in the Trading Post by the Johnson Brothers.
gwb123 Posted March 30, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 30, 2015 Actually I think this may predate WWII.
1SG_1st_Cav Posted March 30, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 30, 2015 They do not pre-date WWII. These velvet patches were made in the 1980's. They are junk and I didn't put them in my collection.
tredhed2 Posted March 30, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 30, 2015 There were two articles on them - the patches date from the 1970s. Thanks for the reminder 36-Tex.

468abnarm Posted March 30, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 30, 2015 I think it is a nice variation regardless of era or maker!
36-tex Posted March 31, 2015 Share #8 Posted March 31, 2015 Dave, I would have to dig to find out. I spoke to Dave Johnson about these at ASMIC Convention a couple years back. I think they are trying to get a count of all of the patches in that series.
