David B Posted March 28, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2015 Hi guys, I purchased this the other day but as it's my first "Dolphin" badge, my knowledge is a little sketchy. The reverse is marked Vanguard NY Sterling. I'm guessing it dates from the 60s to 70s, so Vietnam period? Am I correct? Thanks in advance! Josh B. Posted March 28, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2015 Seems like a reasonable date range to me.
BROBS Posted March 28, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 28, 2015 Maybe even possible KW era ? Not sure on this one.. but your guess is probably right of the 1960's. -Brian
David B Posted March 28, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted March 28, 2015 Thanks guys, your opinions are appreciated! It would be nice if they are Korean War period but I'm happy that they are 60s, I just wanted a sterling example :-) Thanks again!

MikeK Posted April 7, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 7, 2015 Hi Dave, I'm not sure I'm seeing Vanguard NY. I think I'm seeing Vanguard 1V, which would date it to early/mid 60s. Regards Mike
BROBS Posted April 7, 2015 Share #8 Posted April 7, 2015 Mike you are absolutely right!! I kept seeing NY without looking too closely. -Brian

David B Posted April 7, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted April 7, 2015 Mike you're definitely right, 1V it is :-) Next time I must check marks with a loupe instead of my not so reliable eyesight. So 60s it is, exellent! Thanks again guys.
Tim B Posted July 28, 2015 Share #11 Posted July 28, 2015 I would second Mike's assessment, 60's era. Here's an earlier Vanguard version:

Tim B Posted July 28, 2015 Share #15 Posted July 28, 2015 Hi Dave, Yes, for a later (post WW2) set of dolphins, they still have some charm. Tim

Tim B Posted July 28, 2015 Share #18 Posted July 28, 2015 Thanks, I try as I think it's important for members to see good images. They enlarge a bit more if you click on them; in case you didn't know. Tim
