manchu57 Posted March 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2015 Went to an estate sale bought a small box of USN items. In the box was this small USMA 1913 pin made by BB&B, 14K. I just thought it was a neat little find for what I paid. Must have been some type of graduation or sweetheart pin.
USMCR79 Posted March 23, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 23, 2015 They are sometimes found with initials engraved on the back - I have been able to research these with the USMA Register Bill
Dave Posted March 23, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2015 Very nice! It's a sweetheart pin, and they are still made today for graduating classes. It's not a "cheap" sweetheart pin, I think the ones for sale when I was stationed at the Naval Academy 10 years ago were around $300 or so, IIRC (one of my graduating classes bought one for my wife, and she wore it very proudly till she lost it on a trip...) firefighter Posted April 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 1, 2015 Very cool pin.Did the tags come with it?
manchu57 Posted April 2, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted April 2, 2015 No, they are dog tags to three brothers. As far as I can tell there are no USMA graduates in this family.
manchu57 Posted April 2, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted April 2, 2015 Although I bought them all together, the pin does not belong to any of the men on the dog tags.
gunbunnyB/3/75FA Posted April 3, 2015 Share #7 Posted April 3, 2015 too bad its not the class of 1915 or "the class stars fell on" i agree those early year sweetheart pins are not cheap, the last one i had was of a "39" and i sold it for $250.
