Garandy Posted March 15, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 15, 2015 Can't post pic..but here goes..heavy zipper, no extension, darker green than the lighter 1943 style. Drawing number 8300-44 2650 plus white tab sewn on with hook. Inside one separate piece of green material going length ways. One snap to close after zippered. No other marking but maker on zipper and reddish stamp on white tab attaching hook. Is this WW 2 era? 44 is date of drawing number design? No extension for full rifle. Was this still the garand paratroopers case? Pics on the Facebook page US militaria forum..thanks for info?
glenm Posted March 15, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 15, 2015 Yes, that's the second pattern "Griswold" Bag, as used Operation Market Garden onwards. Cheers, Glen.
doyler Posted March 15, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 15, 2015 Here is one I own in the original box.Late war and the stock number is an Army Air Force number.
Garandy Posted March 15, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted March 15, 2015 Thank you. The zipper is talon manufactured. The snap that closes over the zippered closure on the strap is the flat black solid like on the 1944 rifle muzzle covers by Brown. Not post war, thanks. ccyooper Posted March 17, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 17, 2015 Sounds like a typical unmodified 2nd model as Glen and Doyler have indicated. Good find
Ronny67 Posted March 17, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 17, 2015 Ron- thats is beyond cool! The original box is almost cooler than the contents...
