mattsmilitary Posted March 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2015 Picked these up at SOS. They are 2nd marine div twill patches and I have 3 different variations. They look to be new old stock. They dealer I got them from did not think they were wwii but maybe korea. I did have my black light with me and I checked them before I bought them. None of them glow. Was looking at these more closly and doing some research on them and im very pleased with my purchase. I also wished I bought all of them(he had maybe 6 more)but honestly my thought was; "i leave these for someone else." Happy collecting!

KurtA Posted March 2, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2015 I've always viewed that variation as WW2 era. One bit of clarification - these are felt, not twill.
doyler Posted March 2, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2015 Agree with Kurt. I saw stacks of these and the 4th division felt even back in the early 80s.All are mint.Seldom seen on Uniforms as the embroidered seem more common on a uniform jacket. I recall a lot came out of the Wosk hoard as well and his retail store closed in 1947 if Im remembering correctly.

blitzkrieg gsd Posted March 7, 2015 Share #8 Posted March 7, 2015 Matt I also picked up a couple of them at the show also got a 4th division same style. Never thought about them being anything besides ww2 era. But I'm glad you posted yours and ask about them because I was getting ready to do the same thing LOL. So good to see some of the guys in the know confirm them as being ww2 era.
American Heritage Posted March 9, 2015 Share #9 Posted March 9, 2015 I have a uniform with the 2nd mardiv type on it that you show above. This variation was def used during ww2. I can try to get a pic of it up.
