I found this at a military vehicle show. It is marked “Observer Compass” and made by C. G. Conn, LTD., Elkhart Indiana, probably in 1943. C. G. Conn made musical instruments prior to and after WW II and because it had experience working with brass, they made many brass items for the military, particularly the USN during WW II.

I didn’t find much doing internet research, so I’m not really sure how this is used, or what type of craft would carry one. Can anybody point me in the right direction to find out more about it?

It will go well in our “Indiana Made” area of the museum as we are located in Indiana.

Thanks for looking.
