'Flage Guy Posted February 25, 2015 Share #43 Posted February 25, 2015 The strange construction of the lighter-shade Cover leads me to suspect that this is a very early variant; never seen another like it:

BagmanL6 Posted February 25, 2015 Share #45 Posted February 25, 2015 Nothing too spectacular but its mine. Found it in an antique shop along with the cartridge belt for $25 about 2 1/2 yrs ago. It caught my eye because I worked for a guy who had collected and went on and on one day about Marine Corps rabbit ear canteens one day at the office. I like most of us had picked things up here and there throughout my career but this canteen is the piece that actually got me into collecting as a dedicated hobby. 'Flage Guy Posted February 25, 2015 Share #46 Posted February 25, 2015 BagmanL6, you did darn good for that price. The Cover doesn't look like it has much of any wear on it.
FSBE Posted February 25, 2015 Author Share #47 Posted February 25, 2015 Hopefully this will turn into a gigantic thread. Very nice stuff on here already! Here's some of the Old Guys... Ty everyone for contributing John edit: didn't realize there was a second page. Colin what's up with that P2 with the funnel hole?
knd643 Posted February 25, 2015 Share #48 Posted February 25, 2015 Nothing up with it. Its a transitional P2 with a funnel hole. Their harder to find than normal P2s. Got it at the SOS last year.
FSBE Posted February 26, 2015 Author Share #49 Posted February 26, 2015 Nothing up with it. Its a transitional P2 with a funnel hole. Their harder to find than normal P2s. Got it at the SOS last year. Never seen one of those before. I imagine they were made in 1944 for the most part. John
