Lee Ragan Posted February 22, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2015 62nd Fighter Sqd. was part of the famous 56th Fighter group that flew with the 8th Air Force in the UK. They were equipped with the P-47 all thru the war. When I was in the USAF (1966-1970), the 62nd was then a Fighter Interceptor Squadron flying the F-101 VooDoo at K.I. Sawyer AFB Michigan. The bulldog, which everyone called "Spike" was still their squadron patch.

disneydave Posted February 24, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 24, 2015 I've documented just over two-dozen of these in my book. There may have been as many as around three dozen. The were made by the PPCo, (Postamp Publishing Company), which is the same company that produced the gummed insignia stamps for the Hearst newspaper promotion. These iron-on transfers came with and without background detail.
