muldog Posted February 14, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2015 Anyone know what type of oval (background trimmings) do the 1st and 2nd battalions 187th infantry wear under the air assault badge? In the 70's it was the headquarters oval as the 3rd bn was the only active unit of the 187th. now that there are two do they wear ovals with battalion ticks or the HQ one? thank for any info. Rakkasan187 Posted February 14, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 14, 2015 The battalions have the ticks on their ovals designating 1st, and 2nd battalions...\ When I was in the 187th in the 80's 2nd Battalion was in Panama assigned to the 193rd and were on jump status. They wore the 2nd battalion flash and oval with the ticks. At Ft Campbell was 3rd, 4th and 5th Battalions, I was in 3rd Batt. we wore the 3rd flash and oval with ticks. I can't recall what 4th and 5th battalions wore, I believe they also wore flashes and ovals with 4 and 5 ticks...
