bryang Posted February 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2015 Saw this in a Nashville thrift shop for $9. Its in very nice condition, and even still has the belt. Tag indicates early 1950's, however I assume that this style may have been issued longer. What say the forum members? Is this late 1950's to early 1960's? Sully Posted February 13, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2015 The coat may have just been in storage for awhile before being issued. The rank insignia is much later than the 1951 manufacture date.
bryang Posted February 14, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted February 14, 2015 Sounds reasonable. I had likelihood of this being '60's due to the non-subdued patches. My father was with 1st Army in the early 1960's (I was born on Fort Dix, NJ in 1962).
patches Posted February 14, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 14, 2015 That it has the post 1958 large size Spec 4s on it indicates this, a early to mid 60s worn item. As mentioned, items stayed in the inventory for years till it got issued or bought, sometimes never, as witnessed by the items, no matter what they are that are described or categorized by collectors as "Unissued".
