mvmhm Posted February 9, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2015 Another member of American Legion Post 5 stopped by today with this. I'd previously posted about some of the items they had ehre: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/178786-more-american-legion-war-souvenirs/?hl=%2Blegion+%2Bpost and http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/176414-american-legion-donations-part-ii/?hl=%2Blegion+%2Bpost&do=findComment&comment=1348964 and http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/175885-american-legion-donations-part-i/?hl=%2Blegion+%2Bpost This was originally in a small box with the letter telling about it, which was thrown in the garbage when their earlier building was torn down. John found this in the mud and kept it (he said that's why the one side is discolored; he didn't want to try cleaning it). He also told me about all the other things they had, that had been put in storage and later destroyed in a fire..several boxes of WWI artifacts, including a number of Picklehauben. This was supposedly made by one of their members (Richard Albricht?) who enlisted to fly with the Free Czechs in the RAF before the U.S. got in the mix. He was shot down and captured, and later made this for an escape attempt. I'm not sure I have the spelling of his last name right, so I don't have any other info at this point. mvmhm Posted February 9, 2015 Author Share #2 Posted February 9, 2015 I forgot to mention in the second picture, the "gray" material is caked dirt, and a small scrap of newspaper. Mark sends

RustyCanteen Posted February 10, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 10, 2015 Very interesting piece. Can you imagine your life (potentially) depending on people believing it was real? It's not just a stroll through the park! RC
mvmhm Posted February 10, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted February 10, 2015 He brought it in a plastic shopping bag and I could see the basic form through the plastic and thought it was a real .45! Mark sends
