knd643 Posted September 6, 2017 #145 Posted September 6, 2017 Found in another topic on the forum. Link to topic: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/260043-a-couple-ww1-smoking-pipe-displays/ Photo is of medic Sergeant Jimmy Collins who refers to his pipe as a "Hod".
knd643 Posted September 6, 2017 #146 Posted September 6, 2017 From same topic. Pipe was carried by a 91st Division soldier in France and Belgium. His name was Ernie Ludwig. The pipe is marked WDC on the silver band and was known as the "Brighton".
knd643 Posted September 6, 2017 #147 Posted September 6, 2017 From the same topic. The pipe is also a WDC and was known as the "Wellington". It came with the soldier's dog tag, and the original poster hasn't been able to find what unit he served with overseas. The carving includes his initials and dates spent in France.
knd643 Posted September 6, 2017 #148 Posted September 6, 2017 From the same topic. Here's a period storecounter advertising sign for two styles of WDC pipes.

stratasfan Posted September 6, 2017 #150 Posted September 6, 2017 Well, I can add two pics. This is a bombardier who trained in FLA and then served in the Aleutians. This is during training runs in FLA.
