doyler Posted February 5, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 5, 2015 Dustin Super photos.Great to see the variety of knives as well as the uniform combinations. Intresting looking bag the person in photo #3 is wearing.Looks like a ship board produced item.
pararaftanr2 Posted February 5, 2015 Share #8 Posted February 5, 2015 Dustin, great photos, as always! Doyler, Those canvas bags, an often seen item on aircraft carriers in particular, were intended to allow the user to carry a folded belt-type life preserver, rather than have to wear it around the waist. Being hand-made, many variations occur. The example below was for carry at the small of the back, but over-the-shoulder style was most common. doyler Posted February 5, 2015 Share #9 Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks Paul. Wasnt sure if it was an aid bag for a corpsman/doctor for flight deck use? Makes sense to have one for a vest.Remind ds me of the Vietnam era vests that were in a pouch with belt.
Frank Trzaska Posted February 6, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 6, 2015 Great shots Dustin. Keep going! The one fellow looks like he is wearing a Waterman knife, another has a "theatre" made.
thorin6 Posted February 6, 2015 Share #11 Posted February 6, 2015 It looks like the guy wearing the EGWaterman knife (or look-alike) has it attached to his pants belt, and then ran the web belt between the sheath and the knife. Interesting way to wear a knife when it won't fit on the issued web belt.
