scottiques Posted February 4, 2015 #1 Posted February 4, 2015 Found in a foot locker of a WW2 US Navy veteran. Card with various insignia and a hat badge. Can anyone confirm that these are actually WW2 insignia vs. later ones? Thanks. Scott
scottiques Posted February 4, 2015 Author #2 Posted February 4, 2015 Bottom half of card with additional insignia. Scott
BROBS Posted February 5, 2015 #3 Posted February 5, 2015 well the mum was not used postwar so yes they are good ww2 items. collartabs look to be from high ranks perhaps some political?? Maybe everything is Navy (IJN). The round things are basically like Rate sleeve strikers... both Cap badges are Navy.. the one with flag may be for Vets or Reserves.. Or even higher ranking than I've seen. I don't know much about Japanese stuff. -Brian
gwb123 Posted February 5, 2015 #4 Posted February 5, 2015 To meet the standards for the Spoils of War forum, we are going to need more info about the veteran. Otherwise this will be removed. Sorry.
scottiques Posted February 5, 2015 Author #5 Posted February 5, 2015 Still working on the vets information-- sold from a family member who wanted to keep the personal items. I will add updates as I gather information, but understand if it must be pulled for not meeting the standards. Scott scottiques
gwb123 Posted February 5, 2015 #6 Posted February 5, 2015 Nice looking examples in any case. Makes the post war reproductions that I bought years ago look worthless.
vintageproductions Posted February 5, 2015 #7 Posted February 5, 2015 a lot of the collar tabs and the first cap badge is merchant marine related.
BROBS Posted February 5, 2015 #8 Posted February 5, 2015 that would explain it.. I didn't even think of MM.
