268th C.A. Posted January 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2015 I can't give you a paint code, If you have the blue fuse, take it to a hobby shop for a close match. The grenade body it self as far as I know was not painted blue, only the fuse handle or spoon, The ones I have seen also have a red tip on the bottom of the spoon. Most surplus stores sell them. rldarmstr Posted January 29, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2015 I believe that the hobby shops carry paints for models that have the correct or very close to correct color for this. You may have to mix other colors (white or a darker blue) to get the exact color but it can be done. If your practice grenade is from late WWII or the Korean War period (not stamped RFX) the handle will not be painted blue. It will be the standard handle use on the live grenades of the period. If your grenade is from early WWII or earlier it will be painted red and have a cutback fuse. This is a link to a site that discusses MKII grenade handles. http://www.hardscrabblefarm.com/ww2/grenade_colors.htm I have heard, but can not verify, that the handles that have the lower end painted black or from training grenades. Maybe some else on this forum can add to that?
