What do you think the red "B" or "8" represents? I guess the red "3" represents the obvious......Nice patch BTW.

I think it is a "B" I wonder if it is for a Boat Crew? I have not seen too many other of these patches, Flying Tiger has one and it is the same with the "B" the fakes on EBay just have a red line! Information isn't easy to find on this group either

Hi Bearmon,

Here is another one similar to yours with slight variations. White around the 3 and lettering the same color as the border. I'm sure it was made at the same shop.Roughly translated it is Coastal Defense Task Force, Coastal zone 3 Coastal Headquarters. The area in the small black semi circle is Coastal zone 3 which covers the Mekong Delta area. The little notch above the Mekong and below the B is Vung Tau. The zone was divided in alpha sections of which one is B and B was subdivided into Alpha-numeric areas. Hope this helps a little.
