notinfringed Posted February 8, 2015 Author Share #56 Posted February 8, 2015 My Great uncle was stationed at Ladd Airfield in 1944-46. These pictures are from his photo album. Those are some awesome shots. I am glad to see Ladd related photos. For those that don't know, Ladd Airfield is now Ft. Wainwright. There are eve a few buildings left over from the WWII days. The remaining buildings were designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1985. There are several government publications on Ladd. Here is a link to a PDF of a flyer that they hand out so you can do a self guided tour. They are pretty good about letting Civilians on Post as long as there is a good reason, and there isn't any type of alert: http://www.nps.gov/akso/history/PDF/Ladd Field Brochure.pdf Here is a link to the National Park Service page on Ladd: http://www.nps.gov/akso/history/nhl-ladd-field.cfm
