I have about 70 aircraft pictures in my collection of albums that I would like to post. I see tons of Alaskan pictures on ebay, and most of the aircraft related one's go out of my price range. I would love it if anyone on the forum who has Alaskan aircraft photos would be willing to share them here. I will get it started with these. Please correct me if I identify any wrong, as I am no expert. From a GI stationed on Adak (I believe), then Attu:

First a few p-38 shots

Here is a "cringe worthy" shot. Recovering the guns from a wreck near Fairbanks. I'm not sure if this was one of our boys, or a lend-lease plane. It is pretty hard to tell from this picture:

These next shots are from a Royal Canadian Air Force member stationed in Alaska at the Annette Island Landing Field. This Field housed Canadian pilots, as well as serving as a refueling stop for Aircraft destined for the Aleutians. I apologize in advance for the picture quality. The album had some water damage, and most of the pictures are only about one inch square:

These are p-39's from the 57th Fighter Squadron:

These may be bending the rules a bit, as they belong to a foreign air force, but here are a few shots of the Canadian p-40's:

Straying off topic a little bit, these next five shots are from after the owner of the album was shipped to France. I figured I would show them anyway, since I already had them scanned.

AAF_Collection

The second to last is an Avroe Anson, and in the background it appears to be an Airspeed Oxford, both RAF/RCAF types built in both the UK and Canada.

Thanks for the ID. I never would have figured that one out.

The next album is from an 11th AF GI stationed on Adak (I believe).

Not sure on the first one. Possibly a Douglas A-20?

Next up, five shots from an album belonging to a medic stationed out of Anchorage. He traveled all over the state judging by his photo album.

Two shots of a P-40 in flight:

Next up, a few out of an album from an Engineer stationed in the Aleutians. First off, three shots of a noorduyn norseman:

Two more from the same album.

A B-25:

An unknown. Possibly a Beechcraft C-45?

That's it for tonight. I will try to post more tomorrow.

Very nice set of photos and thank you for sharing! Many years ago I had a small grouping of a fellow that was stationed at an Alaskan airfield. regrettably I sold them off.

The plane identified in #14 as a PBY is actually a Grumman Widgeon. (I can't remember the military designation.) The bottom photo in #17 isn't a Beech C-45 but a Lockheed-Vega PV-1 Ventura. The PV-1 looks a lot like the later PV-2 Harpoon, but this is an early war photograph (as indicated by the early war national insignia on the nose without the horizontal white bars either side of the star). The PV-2 came out later in the war.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I have never been very good at Identifying aircraft, but I knew that didn't look right for a PBY. I was hoping I could get a better image of the markings on the back. It may be an RCAF plane:

The aircraft is a Martin B-26 Marauder.

Larry

Thanks for the reply. I really should have known that one.
