268th C.A. Posted January 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2015 Hello, I may be in the wrong area if this is only collar insignia. I have what I think is a USMC sword belt plate? Its the same size as my 1851 sword belt plates. It has been bent to wear as a belt buckle. anybody know what time frame & is it a sword plate ? Thanks David

Brig Posted January 22, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2015 Belt buckle for Staff NCO's in the dress blues, which can be worn with or without the sword.
Gumshoe Posted January 22, 2015 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2015 NCO sword belt plate. That style EGA used through Korea and into the 1950's, I believe.
Brig Posted January 22, 2015 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2015 NCO plates lack the wreath The pattern EGA was used until 1955, not sure if the belt plate was updated later than the standard emblems, though

268th C.A. Posted January 23, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted January 23, 2015 Hey thanks guys! Any idea when this plate first went into use ?
Brig Posted January 23, 2015 Share #8 Posted January 23, 2015 Emblem saw first use in 1937, again not sure if it took awhile for the buckles to catch up to the new emblem regs
themick Posted January 24, 2015 Share #9 Posted January 24, 2015 Unfortunately it appears that someone cut the male catch off of this waist plate, so in reality, you really couldn't wear it. Steve
