Vincennes Posted January 22, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2015 I spent Christmas with relatives in the Savannah, GA area. We hit a lot of tourist stops, but one that I really enjoyed was the abandoned WW2 Harris Neck Army Airfield. It is now in a migratory bird refuge run by the federal government. The runways and taxiways are slowly reverting to nature but some are still used as roads or hiking trails. The only building remaining is an ammunition bunker now used for lumber storage. Below I post a photo of the interpretive sign, 2 shots of runways and taxiways, and a shot of the old ammunition bunker. Paul

MattS Posted January 22, 2015 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2015 Very cool! I wonder if they allow metal detecting there? Might be some interesting stuff to be found, and thanks for posting.
