All the following photographs are identified to the airman. The Navy Balloon Pilot was an enlisted sailor.

All are part of larger uniform groups. Fun Stuff!

John,

The short answer is that there is really too much to tell. All are from groupings in my collection. Some are larger in content than others and none of these have ever seen the dealer market. Several are accompanied by letters from the family. I'll post a more complete story on my Balloon pilot soon. He had 2 flaming balloon jumps and was recommended for the DSC twice. He was the commanding officer, as Captain, of the 5th Balloon Co. He is named in several Aviation publications such as Wings of Honor & The Balloon Companies of the AEF. DJ

DJ that sounds like a plan - should be a great thread. As for the wings here I think is provides a very good idea of the quailty and variations of bullion wing from the period.

Thanks

John

I keep discovering more of these amazing posts of yours today. Your collection reminds me of a couple of buddies I have in the Northeast in quantity and quality. Very nice.
