Tinky Posted January 18, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2015 Hello, Many of you know Bastogne, the Nut's City. Maybe a little less familiar with the barracks. Formerly 1st Field Artillery Regt, which became a museum, the "Bastogne Barracks" (free by the way) https://fr-fr.facebook.com/pages/Bastogne-Barracks/134785443282088 http://www.klm-mra.be/klm-new/engels/main01.php?id=../external-sites/index-tabs-en This historic site was the headquarters of Gen. McAuliffe during the Battle of the Bulge. He was the defender of the siege of Bastogne. For some time, I hear noises about closing the site. Belonging to the Belgian army and to budget restrictions, the site is particularly threatened. Already the MRA (Royal Museum of the Army) has sold collectibles to scrap dealers ... Even if denied, I have it from reliable sources ... http://www.lalibre.be/actu/belgique/jeu-de-massacre-au-musee-de-l-armee-54351df9357030e610451960 http://www.rtbf.be/info/belgique/detail_le-musee-de-l-armee-se-defend-de-toute-destruction-indue-de-son-patrimoine?id=8373450 Many former suspected that Bastogne was close, either OK BUT NOT MUSEUM dammit ... http://www.lavenir.net/article/detail.aspx?articleid=DMF20141113_00558439 Since recently, it circulates a petition on Facebook compounding my fears ... So please we fighting ... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bastogne-Barracks-doit-survivre/510266612448575 The petition in three languages: https://www.change.org/p/mr-steven-vandeput-please-do-not-cose-the-army-base-at-bastogne-but-keep-it-as-wwii-battle-of-the-bulge-historical-remembrance-site?utm_medium=email&utm_source=notification&utm_campaign=new_petition_recruit Regard's, someone disgusted by the system, Stef
