mkychik Posted January 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2015 I picked this up with a 12th Infantry Regiment patch. I believe it is a German BEVO weave pocket patch for a platoon assigned to the 2nd Armor Division. Would this patch be classified as an infantry or an armored division patch? Any other comments would be appreciated, I cannot find much info on google about this unit. Thanks, Mike

vzemke Posted January 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 17, 2015 I think the actual designation at the time was "12th Armored Infantry Battalion". Ultimately an Infantry organization equipped with armored vehicles that was part of an Armored Division. If their short lived collar insignia (shown here) is any indication, they too were confused. patches Posted May 25, 2020 Share #8 Posted May 25, 2020 Here's two different DIs for this unit, the 12th Armored Infantry Battalion. both found online from old sales from awhile ago. This one only showed with the front of it, it was described as NH IE Non Hallmarked, it has no scroll, and appears to be Clutch Back. While this one we can see more images of it, it has a scroll, and is Pin Back with no Hallmark, maybe German made??

That's real interesting, German made right, when the 2nd Armd Div was in Germany in the 50s.
