NEW WW2 WINGS...SHOP WALK INS

Recommended Posts

Shop walk in, got them for a mere $20.00 apiece. Not to shabby to say the least! Someone polished the wings though, which in turn removed the patina!

Great pick ups!Congrats!

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silver wings;

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there

I've chased the shouting wind along and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

where never lark, or even eagle flew;

and while, with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Gotcha.

Amazing that somebody would rather scrap them than sell them!

Nice finds.

It pains me to think how much of these items that escape capture and actually make it to the smelter. Nice save, indeed.

Quite a few I'm sure! I went in to both of the larger coin dealers where I live over 10 years ago and told them to call me if they get any military items in for scrap. I've picked up some pretty neat items over the years that were sold for scrap value. Even grabbed a caterpillar club pin set from one of them!

Very nice save, and awesome price for those. I hate seeing stuff like that in scrap silver piles. That is where I found a 1958 Air Force ring some years ago, and save it just a day before it was melted. Not in the best shape, but still.. Any of them are worth saving. Also save these wings from that same scrap pile.
