Here is my new prize with loads of research potential. It just arrived today. The photos of the GI's are reprints and I am waiting to see if the person who sold it to me was able to get any more information about the GI's in the photo. At any rate I am very, very pleased.

I forgot to mention that the photo on the right is the same flag after it was painted. The edges have been folded over so it looks smaller but under inspection of the painted lettering, I am sure it is the same one.

Very groovy flag! When I collected German stuff I had a small sub-collection of signed and bring back items....wish I kept some of them!

Thanks Mark. Yeah, I'm pretty particular with my German/Japanese pieces. I only keep the ones that I have really good provenance too or have been signed or written about. I can't wait to do some research.

Thanks Tim! Yeah. I am really tickled with this one. I am going to start doing some research soon. Hoping to find a veteran still alive from this battery.

Nice flag with the painted writing and to top it off a photo to boot. Great to have a load of names so a little research is in order.

Thanks V42. Haven't had the time to do any serious research yet but I will.

Great flag ! I love signed flags. I have a small one but have had no luck so far finding any vets still alive. Good luck on the research.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Pictures of this flag will most likely be in Bill Shea's new book on GI war souvenirs that is slated to come out next Spring. I have a few signed flags and have traded/sold a few over the years but this is my favorite by far.
