I have seen various examples of this crest, but I haven't been able to find one with the upper moose/deer design portion...is this a variation? Seeing it's NS Meyer Hallmark in this style means WWII late 40s early 50s, then it was known as the 172nd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division.
