Wake1941 Posted January 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 1, 2015 I ran across this, laying around never paid much attention to it. I tried to look for ones similar but nothing came up. The pin has good detail and appears to be made of sterling but lacks any marks. Is this pin unofficial or even real for that matter thanks

29navy Posted January 2, 2015 Share #7 Posted January 2, 2015 This, like the other PT boat pins were not "official" insignia for uniforms. They were either given out by the manufacturers to new crews or sold in the Ships Stores or local uniform shops.
Wake1941 Posted January 2, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted January 2, 2015 So this one could have been sold to these sailor, also what period during or after the war. Thanks for your help
topdcnut Posted January 2, 2015 Share #9 Posted January 2, 2015 Very interesting badge, not sold in ships stores or ever worn by a US Navy sailor. Do a Goggle search and find out about this Company and it's interesting boats. Might be kind of rare.

topdcnut Posted January 3, 2015 Share #11 Posted January 3, 2015 I was in a hurry before , a quick goggle search will show that Vosper was a british company that built PT boats in the US for use by england, ussr norway etc. They were not used by the US This pin would have been give by vosper to I suppose employees and friends of management. I did not do justice to the story of this interesting variant of this cool pin.
