vchmiele Posted December 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2014 Does anyone know if the B4 life preserver (Mae West) came in different sizes. It looks to fit differently on many pilots from period photos. Also, can anyone provide me with dimensions. Specifically: width at bottom (minus tabs for straps), length from bottom of neck opening to bottom of vest (minus tab for straps). Also overall length from top of collar to bottom of vest (minus tab for straps). Thanks!
dustin Posted December 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2014 Yes they do vary slightly between some manufacturers but very subtle, what your seeing is more of an illusion according to height and stature on the individual wearing one. Also you may be seeing a B-3 instead of a B-4, they fit differently from one another. What are you wanting the dimensions for?
vchmiele Posted December 23, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted December 23, 2014 Thanks Dustin, I am developing 1/4 scale multimedia sculptures. I am in the process of making the patterns for the clothing items and the initial mock up looked a little small. Currently, the dimensions that I am using are: 11.5" width at bottom (minus tabs) and 12" length from bottom of neck hole to base (minus tabs).
