I don't actively collect these but have had a few slip into my collection. Here's a couple...

 

AGF and Military District of Washington greenbacks

It does look that way but the reason it has a cut edge is because the black merrowed edge was never added. The back has the glue applied like a lot of patches in the 80s and 90s.

 

I bought it off a fellow forum member several years ago; he had several and he said they were manufacturer's errors.

Here are a few more English Made Insignia with manufacturer's errors

Errors on Felt USAAF and Allied Airborne Insignia, the Eighth Air Force displays a lack of embroidery.

That U.S. Army Japan is not only a Factory Embroidery Goof but also a if you will, a Thread Color Goof, look at the Black Merrowed Border they used, supposed to be Red as we know.

Found these 1950s or 60s U.S. Army Europe Goofs (On Overlooked Surplus) The right top one not only has the missing flame on the one side but also the top area of it was botched
