Der Finn Posted December 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2014 Can anyone ID this cap badge? It's on a wool cap with a black visor. Thanks for any help!
GIl Sanow Posted December 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 10, 2014 I think I saw a gilt one once that was ID'd as some sort of preWW2 Veteran's Administration (or it's predecessor) uniform insignia -- perhaps for a veteran's hospital. G
green hell Posted December 10, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2014 Howdy - I've never seen one, but might guess it was used by a crewman on an armed merchantman (like a gunner's mate, perhaps). 48 stars on the American flag, so it's probably WWII. Also a naval 'Jack' and a rifle crossed with an anchor behind the US shield, so there's some connection to the sea. Any maker's mark on the back? Can you post a photo of the whole cap? I'm sure somebody on here will be able to tell you everything you want to know about it, and then some. Good luck - Chris

Garth Thompson Posted December 10, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 10, 2014 Actually it is circa 1930's WW1 Veteran Association. The army version is gilt the naval version silver.
